Photographer John Loengard died this week. Loengard began his career in photography during his senior year at Harvard College when he was given his first assignment for LIFE magazine. He spent the next three decades working as the picture editor of LIFE Special Reports all while exploring “the ordinary and the unexpected” in his own photography.
